Caring for Your Jewelry

If you received a piece of jewelry over the past month or so, you may be wondering how you can keep it nice and shiny for years to come. Basic jewelry care, before it becomes dirty and, simple cleaning can help you keep your beautiful jewelry bright for a lifetime.

Always - Before performing even the simplest task, remove your jewelry. This includes rings, bracelets, and other trinkets that might catch on something as you move your hands and arms.

Removing your gems will also keep them free of harmful chemicals that can stain or physically damage parts of the jewelry. This is especially true for custom jewelry engraving on various pieces because the chemicals can fill in the wording and sometimes erodes the delicate etching.

Do not wear your jewelry in the shower, swimming pool, or hot tub. Soap film or chemicals build upon the jewels and cause them to look dull. This can also damage the stones.

Cleaning - Do not use paper towels or tissues when jewelry cleaning as they scratch and can embed small fibers near the findings.
For the best results, use a jewelry polishing cloth. An old cloth diaper or svelte could also be used; however, the polishing cloths are the best bet.

The staff at Draper Jewelry can assist you in making the best choice for everyone on your list. This Nashville jewelry offers custom jewelry engraving to turn any piece of jewelry from beautiful to inspire.
