So you’ve taken the time to figure out exactly which diamond is the best for your loved one, and you’re just about ready to buy it from the store and to head home, when you’re given a whole new question to consider. What type of band do you put it on? This is simple when your lady has a preference that you have to stick with, or when the stone only comes on a particular type of band, but when the option isn’t made for you it can be quite difficult making it on your own.
Fortunately there’s an easy way to make that decision. That’s to choose the band color that’s going to look best on her, and you can absolutely do that. Just choose a ring band based on the tone of her skin, and you’ll be confident that it will look exceptional on her after you pop the question and she starts sobbing from sheer joy.
Is She Warm or Cool?
No, I’m not talking about her temperament. What I mean by warm or cool is her skin tone. Some women have a cool skin tone, while others have what is known as a warm tone. There is a simple test that you can do to figure out which is the best way to describe your bride-to-be. Take a look at her arms and pay close attention to the color of her veins.
If her veins look blue, she has a cool skin tone. If her veins look green, then she has a warm skin tone. Deciding which category she falls in is as simple as that, and once you do that you’ll have a better idea of which ring band metals to choose.
Warm Bands
Women with a warm skin tone generally look better with a traditional gold band. If you’re having a tough time deciding on the right band type, gold is probably going to be the best option, but that doesn’t mean that’s what you have to go with. A white gold or rose gold can also work out, they just generally won’t be quite as good of a compliment overall.
Cool Bands
For cool skin tones it makes sense to pick up rose gold or white gold in most instances. These two colors tend to compliment cool tones the best of all. Go with the band type that she prefers out of the two and you’re sure to come to a stunning end-result.
Extreme Skin Tones
Women with very dark skin, or really pale skin look lovely in a rose gold engagement band no matter whether they have a warm or cool tone. That’s important to keep in mind if you have a lady at home that has a warm skin tone but sits at either end of the spectrum for color. If so, she will really be complimented nicely by the rose gold band, because the color will stand out.
